Painted Skimmer (Libellula semifasciata) - Tentative
I will call this a Painted Skimmer, although distributed widely in surrounding counties, it has not been recorded in Chatham County since 2000. With the strong back lighting, some of the characteristics, such as stripes on the thorax, are masked. It is the strong back lighting, of a late afternoon photo, that appeals most to me.
